RICHARDSON PHELPS, JR,
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA
Amateur yachtsman, radio "ham," rope climber, mild "savoir," past master at double entendre, a free and easy philosophy on life—in short, "that of course, but a great deal more," a sincere enthusiasm characterized Dick in any activity no matter how small. Never bothered by academics ("I'll spot 'em today's lesson"), he always had time to help those who were. His locker door was a joy to behold, and he worked hard justifying it, Not the least of his attributes is a genuine love of his work, and in a few more years the Navy will have another "salt horse" officer to handle a diplomatic post or salvage job with equal skill.

This photo is from an album put together by Anne Foley Phelps (1917-1992). The caption under the photo is "Granny." Thus, this would probably be one of her grandmothers, Louisa Ann Richardson (1849-1930) or Jessie Anne Craig (1860-1915). As the photo was taken in Minneapolis, 1928, it must be Louisa Ann Richardson (1849-1930).

Dear Arnold,
Here's your namesake, if that's what you call the person you are named after. It may be the other way around.
Handsome cuss, wasn't he?
Best,

This print was bought from PeriodPaper.com. It arrived in excellent condition and was professionally packaged. Information below is from Period Paper.

A. A. Sprague, Chairman Board of Directors, Sprague, Warner & Co., Wholesale Grocers; Commissioner Public Works, City of Chicago.

This is an original 1923 black and white print of A. A. Sprague whose interests included big game hunting and playing golf. He belonged to the Old Elm Country Club, the Chicago Club, the University Club, the Mid Day Club, and Shore Acres.

Period Paper has obtained an unusual collection of prints with character sketches of Chicago movers and shakers from the 1920's. These men (yes, they are all male) were active in the business, industrial, and professional life of the city, and they are depicted here in a cartoon-style format with an illustrative and humorous verse by J. P. McEvoy. We have not seen a collection like this before. These are original 1923 prints, not current reproductions, copies, or digital prints. This collection is sure to be of interest to anyone researching their family history--perhaps you will find a family member here!
