Notes

1). No children by either wife. From newspaper clipping provided by Better (Milstead) Tomlinson. No date or name of paper. "Back in Marines--Norman H. Milstead, 24, son of Mrs. Bertha Milstead, 230 Driver, re-enlisted in the U.S. marines at the local office Tuesday. Milstead first enlisted in 1925. He completed his training at the station at Parris Island, S.C. Later he was transferred to Cuba and, in, March, 1926, to Nicarague, Central America, where he saw active service with the marines. Milstead was awarded several service medals during his previous enlistment and was a sharpshooter. He received an assignment Tuesday to the Marine Aviation Unit, Quantico, Va."

2),Per Claudia Milstead 12/16/2006: He lived in Hastings, Barry, MI for many years. Worked at Hastings Manufacturing Co. She attended his funeral in Water Valley or Holly Springs Misissippi or Memphis, Tennessee.

3). Per Barry County records, he died in Barry Co, MI. (Reception No. 1129675, Book 1970, Page 99).

4). His death certificate, held by Claudia Milstead, shows a great deal of information on him. Gives second wife's name.
