- Sources: 1). "The Story of James Guthrie and His Family," by B. G. Kuehl, 1984, Chapter 13. He spent his final years with his oldest daughter, Margaret Playfair Hannah. He died at her home in Moscow, Idaho and buried in City Cemetery. Also see page 157.
In 1862 when Lanark became an incorporated village, Adam Craig was the treasurer. From HISTORY OF LANARK VILLAGE COVERS AN 85 YEAR PERIOD, Written By Mr. C. M. Forbes, Published in The Perth Courier, Dec. 15, 1905 through Feb. 9, 1906.

Per a letter from Marian Wise of Moscow, Idaho, 10 Apr 1992, he was buried in the Moscow cemetery. The death date she gives is 27 Mar 1903. This is different from the date Bonnie Guthrie Kuehl gave above.

Further, the Univ. of Idaho has microfilm of local newspapers for Moscow but not for 1903. There is an obituary for his daughter, Margaret Hannah. It would appear that Margaret died on or soon before 31 Mar 1940. This too is different from what Bonnie provided.
It appears that Idaho counties began officially recording deaths in 1907. The state assumed this duty in mid-1911. In several instances, the counties did record death information prior to 1907.
Living with daughter Margaret in Moscow, Latah, ID, per 1900 census.
