- ------> THIS NEEDS RESEARCH. She married (intention?) in 1672, England and died 1640, USA. (Yes, no USA then, but whatever.)
"Ye Atte Wode Annals," 1928, by E.F. Atwood, page 35: "Elizabeth Penn, dau. Giles Penn, sister of Lord Adm. Wm Penn, and Aunt of Wm Penn of Pa. She came 1634 with Rev. Lathrop, to Mass." (Reluctently, this date (4/30/90), I changed her surname from PENN to PAINE. The preponderance of evidence indicates that she was not related to the Penn family.
See below.
"History and Genealogies of the Hammond Families in America...,' Vol. I, 1902, by F.S. Hammond, pages 53-60. History of her family is given. See spouse for additional info. Strong likelihood that she WAS NOT the daughter of Giles Penn.
See copies of NEHGS Registers V. 30, 1876, page 28 and V. 54, 1900, page 325, and "The Family of William Penn, Founder of Pennsylvania...," 1899, by H.M. Jenkins. Copies of preceding in Paine and Hammond folders.
